Back to School!
Students, parents, and teachers are all right in the thick of preparing for yet another great school year. Did you know that music can boost mood, enhance learning, and even ease the transition back into school? Here are some ways that teachers and students can use music to make this year this best one yet!
Teachers, do you use music to help teach and set the mood in the classroom? How about pick a favorite song to play for the students as they arrive and start their day? Happy, upbeat music will start your class off on the right foot everyday!
There are some wonderful learning songs that help teach skills, such as counting, science skills, and even language. This isn’t just for young students! Your older students can memorize a favorite song that they listen to constantly. Find songs of the periodic tables or teaching grammar skills and go through it daily!
Seeing students feeling unmotivated or tired in the afternoon? Bust out some energetic music! Get those students moving and smiling. A couple minutes of energetic music will pay dividends in attention later!
For younger students, music can be used as a fun way to transition between activities. Want them to begin to clean up from an activity? Play a song that they relate to cleaning time.
Throw in music from holidays and different genres. Class need calming? Play a lovely classical piece. Need some energy? Pull out a fun rock song. Let your imagination run wild and get the kids involved!
